Advanced reboot for Windows 8/8.1/10 - Free Online Tutorial

In this tutorial we are going to see the advanced reboot options including safe mode and disabling driver signature enforcement on Windows 8/8.1 & 10.

To do this go to Start, Power and then Restart before clicking restart you have to press and hold shift.

        

If you do so you will get an advanced reboot menu which includes continue, troubleshoot, and turn off your PC.


Select Troubleshoot,  Under troubleshoot you will have refresh your PC, reset your PC, and advanced options.

       


Refreshing and Resetting is for completely Re installing your operating system with and without deleting your personal data.


If you're having problems with Windows 10 on your PC, you can try to refresh, reset, or restore it. Reset your PC prepares the PC for recycling or for transfer of ownership by reinstalling the OS, removing all user accounts and contents (e.g. data, Classic Windows applications, and Universal Windows apps), and restoring preinstalled customizations to their factory state.

A Reset will only affect the partition that Windows 10 is installed on.

You must be signed in as an Administrator to be able to Refresh Windows.

Note: Here's what will happen:

All your personal files and apps will be removed.
All user accounts will be removed.
Your PC settings will be changed back to their defaults.
If you have more than one drive (partition) on the Windows disk, you will have the option to remove all files on only the Windows drive or all drives on the disk.

Tip: If you like, you could create a recovery image that is used to do a push-button reset of Windows 10 instead of having to insert Windows 10 installation media or recovery drive if there is not an OEM factory recovery image present.

To enable Advanced Startup Options, select Advanced Options.



Advanced startup enables you to perform these actions:

1.Startup Recovery, troubleshooting, and diagnostic tools.
2.Boot from a disk (ex: USB or DVD) or device (UEFI only)
3.Access the PC's UEFI firmware
4.Restore Windows from a system image
5.Choose default operating system

Under advanced options,  you'll have System restore, System image recovery, Startup repair, Command prompt and Startup settings.


You can select your desired option here but for safe mode we have to sell a Startup settings.


Now click restart and after rebooting your PC you'll have your desired option to be selected.

    


Here you may select your desired option and you can press F10 for more options.


When you boot to advanced startup, all user sessions are signed off. If you select a Windows RE feature from this menu, the PC restarts into Windows RE and the selected feature is launched.

In some situations, Windows RE automatically tries to repair the system. Also, these situations automatically cause a failover to Windows RE:

Two consecutive failed attempts to start Windows.
Two consecutive unexpected shutdowns that occur within two minutes of boot completion.

A Secure Boot error (except for issues related to Bootmgr.efi).

A BitLocker error on touch-only devices.

If users boot to advanced startup from within Windows and select a Windows RE tool, they must provide the user name and password of an administrator account on the local PC. This doesn't apply to the Reset your PC feature.
